Stanmore Kindergarten Daily Routine

Fostering belonging, learning and development through intentional and responsive practice

7:30 – 8:30 | Breakfast & Independent Calm Play (“Small Groups”)

Children are welcomed into the learning environment and offered a nutritious breakfast. Educators support calm, independent play experiences, promoting a smooth transition from home to kindy. Small group interactions support social-emotional development, communication skills, and a sense of belonging.

8:30 – 9:00 | Morning Circle

A time for connection and collaboration. Educators lead intentional group discussions, songs, stories, and acknowledgment of Country. This routine builds a sense of community, encourages active listening and develops children’s confidence and communication.

9:00 – 9:30 | Morning Tea

Shared mealtime rituals promote healthy eating habits, independence, and social interaction. Educators engage in meaningful conversations, extending children’s vocabulary and understanding of nutrition and wellbeing.

9:30 – 10:00 | Morning Nappies (as needed)

Children’s individual care routines are supported in a respectful and nurturing manner. This time fosters trust, connection, and a secure sense of self.

10:00 – 11:00 | Workshops (Doors Shut)

Educators facilitate focused, intentional learning experiences through workshops or project-based learning. Children engage in inquiry, problem-solving, and skill-building aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) outcomes.

11:00 – 11:30 | Prepare for Lunch / handwashing / Sunscreen

Children participate in daily routines, developing self-help skills, autonomy and responsibility. Educators promote hygiene practices and sun safety through modelling and conversations.

11:00 – 11:30 | Lunch Nappies (as needed)

Individualised care moments continue as needed, supporting children’s physical health and emotional wellbeing.

11:30 – 12:00 | Whole Service Lunch

Children come together to enjoy a nourishing meal in a communal setting, strengthening social bonds and encouraging respectful interactions.

12:00 – 2:00 | Rest & Sleep

Children are given the opportunity to rest and sleep in a calm and comfortable environment. Educators respect individual sleep needs and support children to relax and recharge.

1:00 – 2:00 | Sleep Nappies (as needed)

Nappy changes are conducted with care and respect, supporting routines and strengthening the educator-child relationship.

2:00 – 2:30 | Independent Play - Small Groups

Children engage in purposeful play that promotes creativity, collaboration, and decision-making. Educators observe and extend learning through provocations and open-ended materials.

2:30 – 3:00 | Afternoon Tea (Whole Service)

Shared afternoon tea provides time for social connection, promoting positive relationships and communication while supporting children’s physical health.

3:00 – 4:00 | Independent Play - Small Groups

Small group play experiences continue, encouraging children’s agency, problem-solving and exploration of ideas through guided and spontaneous learning.

3:30 – 4:00 | Afternoon Nappies (as needed)

Nappy routines are sensitively embedded into the afternoon program, ensuring all children are supported with dignity and care.

4:00 – 5:00 | Gross Motor / Teacher-Led Activities

Children engage in active, outdoor learning that supports physical development, coordination, risk-taking and resilience. Educators lead group games and activities that build teamwork and perseverance.

5:00 – 5:30 | Quiet Play & Late Snack

As the day winds down, children participate in quiet, calming experiences and enjoy a light snack. This time allows for reflection, individual attention and a smooth transition to home
